What is functional-style acupuncture?
Functional style acupuncture is a form of acupuncture that was created to treat the source of the problem, not just the symptom. It was designed to improve function of the organs, nerves, glands, and circulation. Increasing function can reduce, or even eliminate, symptoms.
This type of treatment style requires a full, exhaustive intake and accurate diagnosis before any treatment is performed. Fundamentally, it causes a change in the body and encourages it to heal itself, which is what ultimately improves the symptom.
Because treatments are designed to target the underlying problem, results are often more pronounced and longer lasting.
What is community-style acupuncture?
Community acupuncture treatments are delivered in an open “community” setting. This style of acupuncture is designed to service people quickly. It focuses on treating the symptoms the person experiences that day, rather than treating the underlying cause. Often times, it is delivered on a walk-in basis and without a full, exhaustive intake.
